Rumesh Ratnayake, SL Coach: It's a good feeling to take forward with the team and we are hoping that (the win against Bangladesh) will encourage the team to give their best today. Eventually she (Hasini Perera) broke the chains, so to speak, by going past fifty (against Bangladesh.) That was very useful for us. Of course, we would’ve loved for her to stay a bit longer and not put us under pressure towards the end in that match, but we learned a lot from that performance, and we are very happy for her. Quite a few things (have been impressive) really. The character they show under pressure, the resilience they have when things don’t go their way, and the way they bounce back, that’s been wonderful to watch. The balance between young and experienced players certainly helps a lot. Their fighting spirit and attitude are very heartening, and as a coach, it’s a real delight to see that. I am sure you know the perfect ending is a win for us! The opposition will come with the same intent, but our focus is on winning all the little moments, the small aspects of the game. We keep reminding the team to be the best they can be and to give their absolute best effort today. Hopefully, it all comes together today.
